Opening an Emigrant Account

To open an Emigrant account it is necessary to fill out the forms available at the branches of Banco Interatlântico or at the Site and attach the following documents: 

  • Photocopy of passport;
  • Photocopy of working papers and updated proof of residence or documents proving the exercise of a gainful activity and certifying permanent residence abroad;
  • If you are unable to submit the documents referred to above, you must submit a certificate issued by the diplomatic authority, proving that you live abroad and have had a paid job in the country of residence for more than one year;
  • Cape Verdean pensioners residing in Cape Verde, who receive their pensions through BI do not need to submit proof of emigrant status, since the pension itself  serves as adequate evidence;
  • Completion of forms for opening accounts, which can be obtained directly from the site, and delivered at one of the branches of Banco Interatlântico.

The Account Opening documents can be sent via Fax (261 47 52). Original documents must be submitted by mail to the Branch where you want your account to be domiciliated.
